Apply for Financial Aid
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is the first step in the financial aid process. Colleges will use the information from the FAFSA/CADAA to award financial aid (i.e. grants, scholarships, work study, and loans).
FAFSA (students with a social security number)
- Start by creating a FSA ID (username/password) at StudentAid.gov
- Fill out the student section and invite your “contributors” (parents).
- Parents create their FSA ID, log in to the FAFSA, and complete the parent section.

CADAA (students without a social security number)
- Go to the CADAA website csac.ca.gov and answer questions to determine eligibility.
- Create account (username/password) and complete student section.
- Parents need to complete the parent section.

*Completing the FAFSA/CADAA is a graduation requirement.

Scholarship applications may have specific criteria and require some of the following items:
essay, transcript, GPA, letter of recommendation, resume, activity list, financial need, volunteer log, photo, SAT/ACT.
