2026 Summer School PUHSD Plato Credit Recovery Syllabus

Summer School 2026:
Session I: June 15th to June 30th (No School on Fridays)
Session II: July 1st to July 16th  (No School on Fridays)

• Students elect to enroll in summer school and will be assigned to credit recovery by their counselor to make-up credits for a class they have previously earned a “D” or an “F.” 
• This program is designed to give students the opportunity to prove their knowledge and pass the course without having to attend a full semester of direct instruction all over again.
• All work assigned to students will be found within Plato Courseware and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection.  
• Focus and determination are the key to getting the work finished.
• The summer school Plato course must be completed no later than 1:25pm on the last day of the session you are enrolled in for the course (either June 30th or July 16th). After this date and time, the course will be deleted from the student’s Plato account.
   

Notes are not required. However, students are encouraged to take notes on all tutorials within their course. Many courses have guided notes that can be utilized. Notes must be handwritten and may be used on all Plato tests.
Also, some tutorials may show as exempt based on the results from the unit pretests. Students are encouraged to still review those exempted tutorials before taking the unit post tests. 

Cheating in any form will not be tolerated. The following is a partial list of what may constitute cheating:

1. The use of AI in any Plato assignment 
2. Use of the internet or having a cell phone out while taking any test 
3. Using another student’s Plato notes 
4. Copying test questions and/or answers from any Plato test
5. Logging in as another student
6. Plagiarizing other’s material
7. Copy/pasting/screenshotting Plato materials to any other source
8. Talking or any type of communication with another student during any Plato test

These actions are not acceptable and in some cases may be illegal. One or more of the following consequences may occur:

1st offense: warning (this syllabus may serve as the first warning) and a zero on the activity 
and/or test 
2nd offense: student will earn a zero on the activity and/or test and will receive a referral 
3rd offense: removal from the program for one grading period and/or have the course restarted from the beginning
4th offense: permanent removal from the PUHSD Plato program with all completed work voided

Students must take Pre, Post, and End of Semester Exams with their credit recovery teacher.  These tests may not be taken at home. During testing, all cell phones must be out of sight and Airpods removed from ears. Students who are caught on any website that is not Plato/Edmentum will receive an automatic zero for the test, and possibly a referral. (See Academic Integrity section for more information). 

• Unit Pretests - Pretests will be locked and must be done in the credit recovery lab/classroom setting with the student’s assigned teacher. Pretests are optional and must be completed prior to starting the unit, they will not be unlocked if the unit has been started but can exempt the student from one or more lessons within the unit if they achieve mastery on the pretest. 
• Tutorials/Mastery Tests - Students may complete unit components in any location with internet access. If a student fails a mastery test they may retake it by rewatching the tutorial. This will unlock the mastery test so that the student can redo it for a higher score.
• Unit Post Tests – Post tests will be locked and must be done in the credit recovery lab/classroom setting with the student’s assigned Plato teacher. 
• Discussions/Unit Activities/Course Activities - Discussions, Unit Activities, and Course Activities are found in most units. These are all mandatory.
• End of Semester Exam - The End of Semester Exam will be locked and must be done in the credit recovery lab/classroom setting with the student’s assigned Plato teacher.

Once students have completed the End of Semester Test in a Plato lab session, they need to notify the teacher who will then calculate the course grade based on the following weights.

The following grading weights apply to most courses in Plato.  Please see your teacher for the final grading scale for your specific course.
